Spring Gardening

Winter is nearly over, which means homeowners are likely to begin gardening and creating gorgeous landscapes. While this can be an exciting time, it’s important not to overlook your home’s interior decor, either. In fact, you can bring the feeling of spring inside the home using blooming plants. These colorful, peaceful, and serene plants may enhance your home’s decor and your own mood, as well.

When the first breeze of spring is in the air one of the best things you can see is fresh blooming flowers with all of their bright and vibrant colors. Blue star amsonia and irises reach for the sun, while the bright pinks of dianthus can be found closer to the ground. If you tend a garden, then spring blooms are likely something you look forward to each year.

English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is an excellent way to add a mid-summer pop of color to your garden or patio. We love to plant it somewhere we can enjoy its beautiful scent.  English lavender is more tolerant of colder temperatures common in the Marquette area than French lavender, making it an excellent choice for herb gardens and perennial borders. This member of the mint family features aromatic leaves and flowers that are popular for cooking purposes, medicinal use, and home projects.  The following are just a few of the benefits of adding lavender to your home garden.
